Here at IPS, take immense pride in positioning ourselves as pioneers in the domain of accessibility and inclusion within managed print services. In a recent collaboration with DDLETB, we have designed and developed an innovative accessibility solution for printers called the Lexmark Enhanced Accessibility Program (LEAP).
This device not only aligns with European standards but also strives to accommodate and empower individuals with a diverse spectrum of disabilities, ensuring their independence and inclusion.
- Voice activation (Physical difficulties)
- Larger Keyboard (Dyspraxia – fine motor skills)
- Emojis commands (meets needs of ASD students/verbal communication difficulties)
- Scanner
- Large Print / Braille (Visually impaired – needs A3)
- Noise reduction (no beeping for low toner, quiet running machine – audio hypersensitivity)
- Emoji + word + symbol commands (to develop knowledge / skills using machine)
- Adjustable height to facilitate wheelchair users
- Permissions/activation
- Wi-Fi / wireless activation (print from laptops)
- Tutorials / easy instructions on screen on printer
The LEAP Printer Assists users with the following challenges:
- Users without vision or limited vision
- Users without perception of colour
- Users without hearing or limited hearing
- Users without Vocal capability
- Users with limited manipulation or strength
- Users with limited reach
- Minimise photosensitive seizure triggers.
- Users with limited cognition
- The Privacy of end users.
